Norfolk Southern Corporation

Norfolk Southern Corporation is one of the nation’s premier transportation companies. Its Norfolk Southern Railway subsidiary operates approximately 21,000 route miles in 22 states and the District of Columbia, serves every major container port in the eastern United States, and provides efficient connections to other rail carriers. Norfolk Southern operates the most extensive intermodal network in the East and is a major transporter of coal and industrial products.

Iowa Interstate Railroad, LTD

Iowa Interstate Railroad, LTD is a privately held Delaware corporation and a subsidiary of Railroad Development Corporation. It is also one of the few Regional Railroads that connects with the entire Class 1 railroad system (BNSF, UP, CN, CP, KCS, CSXT, and NS) at multiple locations.

CSX Corporation, together with its subsidiaries based in Jacksonville, Fla., is one of the nation’s leading transportation suppliers. The company’s rail and intermodal businesses provide rail-based transportation services including traditional rail service and the transport of intermodal containers and trailers.

Twin Cities & Western Railroad Company

Twin Cities & Western Railroad Company began operations in July, 1991. TC&W is a regional railroad operating over 229 miles of track and provides rail service to some of the most productive agricultural counties in Minnesota and South Dakota. TC&W interchanges with all Class I Railroads in the Twin Cities (BNSF, CN, CP and UP) and accesses the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers barge facilities via the CP and UP. Commodities transported include grains, soy and edible beans, fertilizers, salt, machinery, forest products, sugar, limestone, coal, beet pulp pellets, scrap steel, canned/frozen vegetables, tallows/fats, corn oil, propane, ethanol, DDG’s, butter, plastics, aggregates and magnesium chloride.

Goderich-Exeter Railway

The Goderich Exeter Railway is located in Ontario, Canada. GEXR has interchange points with the Canadian National at London, ON and Toronto, ON. The Canadian Pacific interchange is at Kitchener, ON, and Guelph, ON. With 181 miles of track through Ontario, the GEXR moves approximately 25,000 cars per year with commodities such as Salt and Fertilizer, Wheat, Grains, Soy Meal and Rice, and Automotive.

Vermont Railway

In the fall of 1963, the end of the Rutland Railroad was in sight and, on January 6th, 1964 a new shortline was born. Created by Jay Wulfson, the Vermont Railway thus became the first public/private railroad operation in the Nation. Operating 125 miles of track in the state of Vermont, the Vermont Railway was a success from the beginning.

Canadian National Railway Company

CN — Canadian National Railway Company and its operating railway subsidiaries – spans Canada and mid-America, from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to the Gulf of Mexico, serving the ports of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, B.C., Montreal, Halifax, New Orleans, and Mobile, Ala., and the key metropolitan areas of Toronto, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Duluth, Minn./Superior, Wis., Green Bay, Wis., Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, St. Louis, and Jackson, Miss., with connections to all points in North America.

Union Pacific Corporation

The Montreal, Maine & Atlantic

The Montreal, Maine & Atlantic began operation in January of 2003 and owns over 745 route miles of track, serving customers in Maine, Vermont, Quebec and New Brunswick. The MMA operates approximately 25 trains daily with main line operations conducted daily between Madawaska and Searsport, Maine, and between Brownville Junction, Maine and Montreal, Quebec.

RailAmerica, Inc.

RailAmerica, Inc., owns leading short line and regional railroads providing rail service to customers across North America. In 2008 RailAmerica relocated its Corporate Office to Jacksonville, Florida. The Company’s 40 affiliated railroads operate in 27 states and 3 Canadian provinces with approximately 7,500 miles of track.


The NECR operates 394 miles of railroad between the Vermont and Quebec border just south of Montreal on the north and tidewater at the Port of New London, CT on the south. NECR features seven days per week service to all major interchange points. NECR interchanges with four Class I railroads; Canadian National at East Alburgh, VT, Canadian Pacific at Bellows Falls, VT, Norfolk Southern at Brattleboro, VT and CSXT at Palmer, MA. Other rail partners include the Vermont Railway at Burlington, the WACR, CCRR, PAS, MCER and PW interchanges at various points in Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire.

The Portland & Western Railroad

The Portland & Western Railroad (PNWR) is a 520-mile short line freight railroad that interchanges with the Albany & Eastern Railroad, BNSF Railway, Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad, Coos Bay Rail Link, Hampton Railway, Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad. Commodities transported include aggregates, brick and cement, chemicals, construction and demolition debris, food and feed products, forest products, metallic ores and minerals, and steel and scrap.

The Nebraska Central Railroad Company

The Nebraska Central Railroad Company (NCRC), is a 340 mile network composed of five former UPRR branch lines and one former BNSF branch line. Trackage rights include rights on 70 miles of UPRR main line between North Platte and Omaha, NE. NCRC, through its connection with Union Pacific (at Columbus, Central City and Grand Island) and BNSF (at David City), is an integral part of grain shipments in the region.

The CFNR encompasses 261 miles of track operating in California. The CFNR interchanges with the Union Pacific Railroad at four locations and with the shortlines of Napa Valley Railroad and Northwestern Pacific Railroad. The CFNR major commodities are all food-related, being tomato products, olives, rice, cheese, frozen foods, beer, wine and wheat with some stone, agriculture, petroleum products, and chemicals.
